Indoors, at least 1 m from metal objects and electronics, away from the external wall. Mount on the SmartBracket with the tamper switch fully depressed and orient the antennas vertically for best 4G reception.
2.4 m above floor level on a flat indoor wall, with the lens facing into the protected area. Avoid mounting opposite windows, above radiators/aircons, or where curtains can swing across the field of view.
Designed for high mounting between 2–4 m (6.6–13 ft) on an outdoor wall or pole. Use the supplied metal swivel bracket to angle the detector down over the protected area, then confirm coverage and photo framing in the Ajax PRO app's test mode. Keep the lens clear of foliage and avoid direct sunrise/sunset glare.
Magnet on the moving leaf, sensor on the fixed frame, with no more than 2 cm gap when the door/window is closed. Sensor and magnet must be aligned within the marks on the casing — verify with the LED test before screwing down.
Use on secondary doors/windows wired into a DoorProtect's external input. Sensor on frame, magnet on moving leaf, gap under 10 mm, aligned. Run the cable through the door frame, not exposed across the surface.
Outdoors, 2.5 m or higher, on a flat wall facing away from the building so it's clearly audible from the street. Tighten the SmartBracket so the rear and front tamper switches are both engaged, and seal the cable entry to keep moisture out.
Run Jeweller (and Wings for MotionCam) test from the device's settings. Two or three green bars at the planned location is acceptable. One bar = relocate the device or add a ReX repeater before screwing it down.
Almost always an uneven surface or a missed mounting screw. Refit the SmartBracket flat against the wall, ensure all required screws are in, and check the rear tamper pin is fully depressed against the bracket.
